Okay, so EA finally remembered they're supposed to do yearly updates and dropped some Sims news on us. Better late than never, right? They're talking about Project Rene going "mobile-first" now, which... yeah, that's definitely a choice.
Here's what's got me scratching my head. They keep throwing around this phrase about the series' "next evolution" but won't actually tell us what that means. Classic EA move. Are we talking Sims 5? Some weird mobile spinoff? Your guess is as good as mine. All they're giving us is corporate speak about "staying true to their values" and keeping things inclusive, which is cool and all, but where's the actual info?
The whole mobile-first thing for Project Rene has me a bit worried, not gonna lie. Remember when they first announced this project? It was supposed to be this big multiplayer experience that would change how we play The Sims. Now it sounds like they're pivoting hard toward phones and tablets. I mean, I get it - mobile gaming is huge right now. But part of what makes The Sims special is getting lost in it for hours on your PC, building ridiculous houses and creating drama between your neighbors.
What really stood out in their update was how they kept reassuring everyone about their commitment to the community after that acquisition news last year. They're really hammering home the inclusivity angle, which has always been one of The Sims' strong points. But actions speak louder than words, EA. Show us what this "next evolution" actually looks like instead of just teasing us with vague promises.
For now, we're stuck waiting to see if 2027 brings us something groundbreaking or just another mobile game with Sims slapped on it. Fingers crossed it's the former.
