About Assassin’s Creed Shadows - Naoe Sekiryu Character Pack (DLC)
Let's be precise about what this is: a cosmetic DLC pack for Naoe Sekiryu, the shinobi protagonist of Assassin's Creed Shadows. It does not add quests, weapons with new move sets, or story content. If you were hoping for an expanded arc for one of the game's two playable characters, close this tab and go replay her Osaka sequence instead. For context, Assassin's Creed Shadows itself is a large open-world action RPG set in feudal Japan, splitting playtime between Naoe, a nimble shinobi built around stealth, grappling hooks, and assassination chains, and Yasuke, a historically inspired samurai who trades subtlety for blunt force. The dual-character structure is genuinely interesting mechanically, and Naoe's kit, with its kunai, tanto, and chain-and-sickle options, gives her a distinct rhythm from Yasuke's heavy weapon combos. The base game earned its mixed Steam reception through a combination of strong world design and the usual Ubisoft friction: bloated maps, repetitive fort-clearing, and a narrative that occasionally forgets it has compelling characters to service. Naoe specifically is the more RPG-adjacent of the two leads. Her skill tree leans into build customization around detection radius, tool variety, and kill-chain efficiency. Whether this pack visually enhances that experience is a matter of personal taste. Cosmetic packs in live-adjacent open-world games live or die on whether the art direction fits the period setting. Feudal Japan is a specific aesthetic, and anything that clashes with it will stand out on every rooftop you cross. Who actually needs this? Players who have already committed to Shadows for the long haul, prefer Naoe as their primary character, and want a different visual identity for her without touching gameplay balance. That is a narrow audience. If you are still evaluating whether the base game is worth your time, this DLC should not factor into that decision at all. The base game's Mixed Steam rating (76% positive across a large review pool) reflects real structural complaints that no cosmetic addition resolves. Bottom line: treat this exactly as what it is. A wardrobe item, not a content expansion. The Scout Team covers it here for completeness because it shows up in search results alongside the main game, and people deserve to know upfront that there is no new story, no new mechanics, and no reason to buy it before you have finished Naoe's base-game questline.
