Whether all that cosmetic weight justifies the premium over the standard version is a personal call, but as a bundle of content it is genuinely substantial. On the course, this is the strongest the 2K series has played. The swing system now comes in two flavors: the classic analog Swing Stick, which rewards timing and muscle memory, and the newly added 3-Click swing that fills a three-tiered power circle before requiring two more timing inputs to shape your shot path and club face. The 3-Click option opens the door for newcomers in a real way - it is more forgiving at lower difficulties and easy to pick up in a group session without a tutorial marathon. Veteran players can stay on the Swing Stick and dial in shot-shaping, ball alignment, and trajectory adjustments for a more demanding experience. The putting grid received improvements too, with speed-correct putts dropping more reliably than in the previous entry. Weather conditions factor into every shot without feeling punishing, which is the right balance for a game that wants to be both realistic and fun. Mode variety is solid. MyCAREER starts you at Q-School or the Korn Ferry Tour, lets you build a MyPLAYER through Archetypes and Skills (think club-type buffs like swing path boosts off the tee or putt path bonuses on the green), and eventually pits you against Rivals that tier up to Tiger himself. The career mode lacks the narrative depth of something like NBA 2K's MyCareer, but it scratches the progression itch well enough. For groups, the multiplayer suite covers Alt-Shot, Stroke Play, Skins, and 4-Player Scramble in local and online play. Divot Derby is the chaotic shoot-out mode that works best with a rowdy crew, and Topgolf - the neon target range mode supporting 1-4 players locally and online - is genuinely the answer to the question of whether this game can entertain four people who do not care about par. It absolutely can. Online Societies let you build custom tournaments and full seasons with friends, which is a nice long-term hook. One important flag for online-focused buyers: the multiplayer servers are scheduled to shut down in March 2027, so the clock on that side of the experience is ticking. The weaknesses are real and consistent across reviews. Visuals are flat for a game of this generation, course textures especially lacking the wow factor you might expect. Commentary from Rich Beem, Luke Elvy, and Henni Koyack repeats often and struggles to accurately track the action. The career difficulty curve flattens out once you find your rhythm, and AI opponents on standard difficulty do not scale meaningfully when you move up leagues. Some consumable golf ball mechanics also flirt with pay-to-win territory in online play, which is a legitimate irritant. The game also has no way to practice a specific hole in isolation - if you want to rehearse the island green at TPC Sawgrass's 17th, you are playing the preceding sixteen holes first. As the best-equipped edition of what is currently the only serious golf sim on PC, PGA TOUR 2K23 Tiger Woods Edition makes sense for golf fans and for anyone who wants a relaxed-but-deep sports sim that can double as a party game when Topgolf and Divot Derby hit the screen. Just know that the swing mechanics and the single-player grind reward patience, and the 2027 server sunset means the online ecosystem has a shelf life.
