NieR Replicant™ ver.1.22474487139...
NieR Replicant is the cult prequel to Automata, a deliberately paced action-RPG that will gut-punch you emotionally if you commit to multiple playthroughs.

Acerca de NieR Replicant™ ver.1.22474487139...
NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... is a remaster-plus-remake of the 2010 original that never left Japan in its true form. Square Enix upgraded the combat engine, re-recorded most of the soundtrack, and added new story content while keeping the game's strange, melancholy soul intact. At its core you are playing a young man fighting monsters called Shades to save his sick sister Yonah, which sounds straightforward until Replicant starts peeling back exactly what those Shades are and why the world got this broken. The story is structured around multiple playthroughs, and I mean that literally, not as optional NG+ content. You are required to finish the game more than once to access the full narrative, and each run recontextualises what you thought you understood. For players willing to commit, that structure lands somewhere between clever and devastating. Combat is a real-time action system with light and heavy attacks, dodge rolls, magic spells called Words that you slot into weapons and abilities, and a handful of weapon types including one-handed swords, two-handed greatswords, and spears. It is not complex by 2024 standards. The depth comes from weapon upgrade paths and the sheer number of Words available rather than execution-heavy combos. Boss encounters are where the game shines brightest, mixing bullet-hell projectile patterns into melee fights in ways that feel genuinely inventive. Regular enemy encounters in open-world zones are fine but thin, and the mid-game fetch quests are the padded-XP-grind variety that I have exactly zero patience for. They were present in the 2010 original and they are still here, unchanged and not apologetic about it. The writing is the reason to be here. Weiss the talking book is one of the sharpest comedy-duo characters in any RPG, and his arc with the protagonist earns an emotional weight that sneaks up on you. Kaine is written with a frankness about identity and trauma that was ahead of its time. Emil starts as a side character and becomes something you will think about for weeks. Yoko Taro's script rewards re-reads the same way good fiction does: dialogue that seemed throwaway in run one lands completely differently in run three once you understand who is actually speaking and why. The localization in this version is excellent. The ver.1.22474487139... release adds a new chapter called The Little Mermaid-inspired story section that bridges into NieR Automata's timeline, which is meaningful lore content rather than filler. The graphical upgrades are real but not dramatic; this still reads as a last-generation game visually. PC performance is generally solid, though the port has had some historical quirks around controller mapping that community patches address. If you have played Automata first, Replicant fills in background that retroactively improves both games. If you have not played either, Replicant is the harder entry point due to its pacing, but it rewards patience more personally.
