What I got was a physics-based football sandbox that lands somewhere between Rocket League's chaotic cousin and a Flash game you'd find on a school computer. The core loop is simple: you control a team of players grouped by role - goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders - and the central mechanic is the Locoso Spinning technique, a spin move that underpins both shooting accuracy and goalkeeping. Master it and you have a real skill expression gap over newcomers. Ignore it and you're basically just bumbling around a pitch hoping the ball rolls your way. That's a reasonable design choice for a casual title, but the ceiling is low. The multiplayer hooks are where the game tries to justify itself. Up to 10 players can share the same match, with options to play online via Steam matchmaking, host a LAN session, or invite friends directly. LAN support in 2022 is a genuine plus if you still do couch setups or LAN parties. Controller support is full, which matters here more than in most sports games - you don't want to be dinking with keyboard bindings mid-match. The co-op and PvP modes work alongside a singleplayer mode for solo grinding, though the AI isn't going to stress anyone who's spent more than an afternoon with the spin mechanic. Here's where I have to be straight with you. The community is thin. Steam follower counts are in the low dozens, the playerbase sits somewhere in a wide estimated range with no firm numbers, and the forum activity is sparse at best. One community comment flags the removal of league play that existed in the original LocoSoccer Classic - a real step backwards for anyone who liked having a structured progression ladder. Player switching has also drawn criticism for feeling unresponsive, and that's a core mechanic in a game where you're supposed to be coordinating multiple roles. The dev has pushed incremental patches - version 1.1.15 and beyond - fixing stats bugs and adding a motion blur toggle, which signals the game isn't fully abandoned, but the content pipeline looks dry. If you're dragging friends to a LAN night and need something goofy to fill 20-minute gaps between rounds of something more serious, LOCOSOCCER 2 does that job cheaply. The physics are loose enough to produce genuinely funny moments, and the 10-player cap means you can fill a room. But if you're hoping for a solo progression mode, a ranked competitive structure, or a lobby scene with actual strangers in it, this isn't the game. The controls needed more polish, the league mode regression from the first game stings, and without a healthy playerbase online matchmaking is a coin flip. Buy it in a group or don't bother.
