Well this is a weird one. Word on the street is that MachineGames is hard at work on Wolfenstein 3, and honestly? Part of me is pumped. But there's a catch that's got me feeling pretty conflicted about the whole thing.
See, here's what's bugging me. MachineGames just dropped Indiana Jones and the Great Circle last month, and that game absolutely slaps. We're talking about the best Indy game we've gotten in forever. Now with Wolfenstein 3 apparently taking priority, it's looking like we might not get that Indiana Jones sequel anytime soon. Or maybe ever? That's the part that stings.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some Nazi-punching action with BJ Blazkowicz. The last two Wolfenstein games were incredible, and yeah, we've been waiting since Youngblood back in 2019 for a proper sequel. That's seven years, folks. So I get why MachineGames wants to get back to their bread and butter.
But man, after playing through Indy's latest adventure, I was really hoping they'd keep that momentum going. The game nailed everything - the whip combat, the puzzles, Troy Baker's spot-on Harrison Ford impression. It felt like the start of something special, you know? Now it looks like it might be one and done.
Maybe I'm being pessimistic. Maybe MachineGames has gotten big enough to juggle both franchises. But realistically? Game development takes forever these days, and if they're all-in on Wolfenstein 3 right now, we're probably looking at 2028 or 2029 before they could even start thinking about another Indiana Jones game. By then, who knows if Bethesda will even want to keep the license.
