So here's something I wasn't expecting to see pop up in my Steam updates today. Warhorse Studios just quietly dropped a next-gen update for the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and honestly? It's about time.

Look, we all know KCD was rough when it launched back in 2018. The game was janky, performance was all over the place, and bugs were basically a feature at that point. But Warhorse is finally addressing this with what they're calling a surprise next-gen update that supposedly brings the game up to "PC Ultra standards" with massively improved performance. And yeah, they actually admitted the game was rough before. Props for honesty, I guess?

Here's what's interesting though. This update isn't just random timing. With Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 launching just a few days ago on February 11, Warhorse clearly wants new players to check out the original. They even said if you liked KCD2, now's a good time to try the first one. Smart move, really. Fix up your old game when everyone's hyped about the sequel.

I'm downloading the update right now to see if it actually delivers on these promises. The original game had this incredible medieval simulation thing going on, but man, those technical issues held it back. If they've genuinely fixed the performance problems and brought the visuals up to 2026 standards, this could be the definitive way to play Henry's original adventure.

Anyone else surprised by this? Or were you hoping they'd do something like this after KCD2 dropped? Gonna fire it up tonight and see if Sir Henry's quest feels any smoother.
