Okay, so here's what's got me hyped. Magic: The Gathering is dropping a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, and honestly? It was only a matter of time. The game already had mutant, ninja, and turtle as creature types. Someone at Wizards of the Coast was probably like "wait a minute..." and boom, here we are in 2026 with official TMNT cards.
But the coolest part? They're making a deck that's specifically inspired by the classic TMNT videogames. You know, those arcade beat 'em ups where you'd mash buttons and eat way too much pizza? Yeah, those ones. I'm betting we'll see cards that reference iconic moments like surfing through the sewers or fighting Shredder on top of the Technodrome.
What really gets me is how perfect this crossover feels. Magic already has this whole thing with different colored mana, and the Turtles each have their own signature colors. Leonardo in blue, Raph in red, Donnie in purple, Mikey in orange. It's almost too perfect, right? Plus, think about all the villain cards we could get. Bebop and Rocksteady as some beefy creatures? Krang as some weird artifact creature? The possibilities are endless.
I'm curious to see how they'll handle the gameplay mechanics. Will we get some kind of "Cowabunga" instant spell? A "Pizza Time" enchantment that gains you life? And please, please give us a Turtle Van vehicle card. That's all I'm asking for.
The set's coming later in 2026, and honestly, my wallet is already crying. Between this and all the other crossovers Magic keeps pumping out, they really know how to hit us right in the nostalgia.
