So here's the thing about Skyrim NPCs - they've been doing this awkward door thing for over a decade and most of us just accepted it. You know what I'm talking about, right? When an NPC needs to go through a door that leads to a different area, they crack it open just a tiny bit, stand there looking all mysterious with a sliver of pure darkness behind them, then just... vanish. Poof. Gone like they never existed.

Honestly, I never really thought about how weird this looked until someone on Steam pointed it out. Now I can't unsee it. It's like when someone tells you about manual breathing - suddenly you're hyperaware of something you've been ignoring forever. The whole thing happens so fast you barely register it, but once you notice? Yeah, it's pretty goofy looking.

The technical reason is actually pretty straightforward. Skyrim can't render both areas at once when crossing load zones, so NPCs can't fully open doors without causing issues. But that doesn't make it look any less silly when your follower opens a door six inches and then evaporates into the void.

Good news though - there's already a mod that fixes this whole situation. Instead of that awkward partial door opening, NPCs now do something that actually makes sense visually. The modding community really does fix everything, don't they? After 15 years, someone finally said "you know what, this bugs me" and actually did something about it.

Makes you wonder what other tiny annoyances we've all just been living with in our favorite games. What's next - someone gonna fix the way characters in Fallout 4 stare directly into your soul during conversations?
