Alright, so PUBG dropped update 40.1 today and I've been digging through the patch notes. You know how sometimes developers drop these massive updates that change everything? This isn't one of those. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.
What we're looking at here is basically a quality of life patch. The kind that fixes those annoying little bugs that've been driving us crazy for weeks. Remember that glitch where your character would randomly freeze for half a second when opening doors? Yeah, that's finally gone. About time too - I can't count how many times that got me killed in Pochinki.
The devs also tweaked some weapon balancing stuff. Nothing major, but the M416 feels a bit snappier now, and they've adjusted the recoil pattern on the Beryl. I spent about an hour in training mode testing it out, and honestly? The Beryl might actually be viable again. We'll see how it plays out in ranked though.
Performance-wise, they're claiming better frame rates on older hardware. My buddy with the ancient GTX 1060 says he's getting an extra 10-15 fps in cities now, which is pretty solid. Console players are apparently seeing improvements too, especially on the Series S.
Look, it's not the most exciting update we've ever gotten. No new maps, no crazy weapons or vehicles. But sometimes you just need a patch that makes the game run better and fixes the stuff that's been bugging everyone. PUBG's been around for almost a decade now, and these maintenance updates are what keep it playable in 2026.
