So here's what's brewing in Japan's RPG scene right now. A bunch of studios just dropped their plans for 2026, and honestly? Some of these teasers have me pretty hyped.
Level-5 is going all-in on DecaPolice, which makes total sense after how long they've been teasing this thing. Remember when we first heard about it back in 2019? Yeah, it's been a minute. But now they're saying it's gonna be their main focus heading into 2026. About time, right? The whole detective-meets-anime vibe they're going for could be exactly what they need after Professor Layton wrapped up.
Then there's Rabbit & Bear Studios dropping hints about something completely new. These are the folks behind Eiyuden Chronicle, and considering how well that turned out, I'm definitely keeping an eye on whatever they're cooking. They're being super vague about it though. Classic move.
What gets me is how many Japanese studios are suddenly ready to talk about 2026. Like, we just wrapped up 2025 and everyone's already looking ahead. But that's how this industry works now. You gotta build that hype train early.
The timing actually makes sense though. With the gaming calendar looking pretty packed for early 2026, these studios need to stake their claim now. Plus, Japanese devs tend to take their sweet time with announcements anyway. At least we're getting something concrete instead of just logos and concept art this time around.
