The Lost Apprentice is one of those quests in Gothic Remake that sounds simple right up until you realize the game gives you almost no hint about where Caine actually is. He is not standing somewhere obvious, and if you are just free-roaming and hoping to stumble across him, good luck with that.
Caine hangs out in the Old Camp, specifically near the inner ring where the ore barons keep their quarters. Head through the main gate, swing left past the fire pit, and look for him loitering close to the wall near the storage area. He tends to stay in that general zone during the day cycle, so if he is not immediately visible, wait a short while or do a slow loop around that section. Talk to him, hand over whatever the quest needs, and The Lost Apprentice wraps up cleanly. It is a short conversation with no combat, which honestly makes it a refreshing break from everything else the Colony throws at you.
