Remember that cryptic website Bloober dropped last month? Yeah, it's another Layers of Fear game. Not exactly the Silent Hill news we wanted.

Bloober Team's Mystery Valentine Reveal Was Just Layers of Fear 3 — GamerScout

So here's the thing about Bloober Team's big Valentine's Day announcement - it wasn't what most of us were hoping for. That weird website with the scrambled URL they launched in early January? Turns out it was all just buildup for Layers of Fear 3.

I mean, props to them for the marketing stunt. The whole "remosdneulserorehsoovamceyerd" thing had people going nuts trying to decode it. Reddit threads were filled with theories, Discord servers were buzzing, and honestly? Most of us thought we were getting something Silent Hill related. Makes sense, right? They crushed it with the Silent Hill 2 remake last year, so why not ride that momentum?

But nope. Third Layers of Fear game it is. Don't get me wrong - the series has its fans, and the psychological horror stuff Bloober does is pretty solid. The first two games sold well enough to warrant a sequel. It's just... after nailing Silent Hill 2, this feels like taking a step backward instead of forward.

The reveal trailer showed off some genuinely creepy visuals though. We're talking shifting hallways, paintings that follow you around, the usual Layers of Fear mind-bending stuff. They're aiming for a holiday 2026 release, which gives them plenty of time to polish it up. And who knows? Maybe third time's the charm for this franchise.

Still can't help but feel a bit let down though. Bloober proved they could handle big-name horror properties. Why go back to their own IP when they could be working on more legendary franchises? Guess we'll have to wait and see if this gamble pays off.
